How to Hook Up Four Speakers to a Two-Channel Car Amplifier

    • 1). Identify the speaker terminals of your amp. Examine the side of the amplifier where the connections are made. Look for a set of four screw terminals, paired into two. Printed above the screw terminals will be "Speakers," "R" and "L" or other similar language.

    • 2). Loosen the screws on the terminals so that there is space for the wires coming from the speakers to slide underneath the screws.

    • 3). Twist together the bare ends of the wires going to the two speakers on the right side of the car. Twist together the positive wires and the negative wires, so that the four wires coming from the speakers terminate in two twisted bare wires.

    • 4). Slide the positive wires under the terminal marked with "R" and "+" symbol. Tighten the screws to hold the wires in place. Slide the negative wires under the terminal marked "R" and "--"symbol. Tighten the screws to hold the wires in place.

    • 5). Twist together the bare ends of the wires going to the two speakers on the left side of the car. Twist together the positive wires and the negative wires, so that the four wires coming from the speakers terminate in two twisted bare wires.

    • 6). Slide the positive wires under the terminal marked "L" and "+". Tighten the screws to hold the wires in place. Slide the negative wires under the terminal marked "L" and "-". Tighten the screws to hold the wires in place.
