session & performance

am a bigginer..

1. am using sessions for all kind of data transfer. does it effect performance..?.. DO I NEED TO CLEAN SESSION ININTERVALS.?.. Give me some tips to manage sessions and improve performance

2. DO internetoptions ->cookiesettings->amount of disk space have something to do with this?
