Zonealram and java problem - not sure if this is the correct place to post?

sorry if this is thr wrong place to post - i couldnt find anywhere else to post.
i have sun java runtime environement SE v5.0 update 4 running on my machine. I have a program (with extension *.jar) that opens with javaw.exe or javaws.exe. When i try to open the program the box opens up, but there is no content within the program box - its just a grey screen. The program basically opens up a *.dat file stored on my PC - and i can update that file by using the java program. The thing is non of the content is being shown....hence the blank grey program window.
The program holds information about music that i have entered into it. If someone with the same program searches for information about a song, and that information is stored within my program - it will display it to them i.e. the program has to connect to the internet.
Can anyone help me out here - im not really bothered about the internet side of it - i just want to be able to view the data ive entered!!!!
The thing is - the program worked before i installed zonealarm security suite. I already tried a few suggestions already- you can view them here at the ZA forum:

can anyone offer any ideas as the ZA people dont seem to know whats wrong :-(
