In this process i tried to install 5.2 p4 on the system where 5.1sp4 is running and Installation is failed .
i have no idea what to do ...
my doubt is whether we can install two d.s on same system.
if so please help me out.

You are correct, it is not possible to have both versions of the server installed on Windows at the same time. The server use DLLs that have similar names but have different versions.
You must install DS 5.1 prior to install 5.2patch4.

But you are asking to install 5.1 prior to 5.2sp4 installation?i didnt get it clearly..Cant we install over 5.1 as the cureent 5.2sp5 patch?
What is it asking ? Replace DLLs, or missing DLLs ?
The proper procedure (provided you want to preserve the data) is to
1/ take a backup of the DS 5.1 DB and its configurations. (this can allow a faster recovery if you need to reinstall 5.1 software)
2/ Export the data to LDIF
3/ Uninstall 5.1
4/ Install 5.2patch5 (latest available)
5/ Configure a new instance of Directory Server.
6/ Import the data from LDIF.

Ludovic.

I m working on it...
