New Installation
i have a test box on which DS5.1 sp4 is running currently.....The OS is HP-UX-11.we have this installaiton in the path ServerRoot/dir514...
I was trying to make a fresh Installation of version 5.2sp4 with the path ServerRoot/dir52..
Can we make two different Version Installations on the Same Server with two different paths?This is just for testing purpose as we dont have other box.I have installed everything but the installation says ....I checked for the Installation file ..but nothing is written in it after the installtion..same about the log files?
So can we install two different versions on the same system...IF so what is the procedure for that..?
You should be able to install DS 5.2patch4 on the same machine as 5.1 without any problem.
Note that there are 2 versions of 5.2patch4 for HP-UX: a Depot based version, and a Zip install version. Both of them should install independantly of existing DS 5.1 installations.
Zip installs usually install in different paths without problem.
However, from my experience with HP-UX, the defaults settings of the OS would not allow to run both of them at the same time, as Directory Server requires many threads and file-descriptors. Often, an instance of DS would work but a second one would not start.

i have also came across problem similar to said....anyway ...there is a new Server available and am trying to install on DS5.2 sp4..
The OS on this machine is AIX 5.3...I have installed the DS5.2sp4 from the tar file and as i went wrong somewhere during installation...i have uninstalled the DS
Then again if i start a fresh start Installation....and during this.....at the option of selecting the Servers or Serverconsole...after selecting the Servers...I dont see tick marks for any of the components from the zip installation..I have come across this problem even before .....
at that time i have copied a fresh copy of DS tar file on to the server(thinking that tar file extracted might be corrupted) and installed and it worked for me.....but now its not working for me....
I have deleted all the folders in the path and even uninstallation files from the Server after uninstallation....where did i go wrong....
