Shared component upgrade

Hi all,

We have 2 JES2005Q1 Access Managers (in session failover mode).

We want to update the plataforms to the latest patch level, but maintaining the actual product version (JES2005Q1)

Can we safely install the latest JES ES Component Patch Cluster on this platforms ? If yes, will we upgrade the shared components by doing this installation? To what level? JES2005Q4 Shared Components ?

Thanks in advance.

The "Java ES Component Patch" clusters available on Sunsolve are meant to be

used by Java ES 2 (2004Q2) and Java ES 3 (2005Q1) users that are upgrading to

Java ES 4 (2005Q4). It essentially upgrades the shared components to the

Java ES 4 (2005Q4) level (and adds a couple new ones in the "genesis" patches).

I think you want to get the "latest patches for JES 3". Unfortunately there is no

simple way to do that (there is with JES 5 where accumulated patch clusters are

now available). My recommendation would be to install the latest recommended

Solaris patch cluster (this may end up patching a few JES shared components

since they are bundled with Solaris as well). You'll then have to search for patch updates for the particular product versions you use (AppServer, AccessManager, etc).

Applying the "Java ES Component Patch" cluster to a JES 3 system and not

upgrading to JES4 may work -- but I'm not sure how much that scenario was tested

so I hesitate to recommend it.
