Hey,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the maximum CPU for the W1100Z is. I have an older W1100Z with the original Opteron 144 installed and was looking to boost the performance a bit.
Since dual-core processors are probably out - what is the maximum supported by the workstation.

The W1100Z and the W2100Z systems use the same systemboard architecture.
So ... whatever processor that works in the W2100Z should be usable in the W1100Z.
Keep in mind that they are Socket 940 processors, not Socket 939.

I found it with a Google search.
The Sun System Handbook (SSH) shows the systemboard in both workstations
to have a model designation of "K85AE", so I used that as the Google keyword.
The Google search gave a number of interesting results.
In particular, AnandTech's web site has a review of the systems that is a good read.
