images are lost when transfering odt from linux to windows

ODTs authored on a Linux box lose some images when opened on a windows box. It seems some images are imbedded into the odt file and have "none" for the picture link file name, while other images link to their home directory under "documents and settings," where, of course, they cannot be found.

Please help!
