Web Services, JDK 1.5, and SP2

I am about to format this hard drive. I have an application I build which uses RMI and JAXB along with several other Sun Java Technologies. This application worked great in 1.4 until the upgrade to SP2 on XP/Pro a few days before I was releasing the product. I will let it go at that.. Problems seemed to have emerged in the new Timer class, RMI and the standard Observer pattern. I no longer have the details. It was a frantic time.

Solution was to uninstall 1.4 and install the beta 1.5. This did the trick. However JWSDP 1.4 needs JDK1.4 and not 5. I can no longer generate the JAXB classes that I need to work with my xml. No xml is a big loss. So I am now at a loss.

Anyone had problems with 1.4 and SP2?

Should I take a deep breath and return to 1.4 and ? (maybe installing over SP2 will work better)

Any way to make WS 1.4 and Java 1.5 work together?

{i think not)

I would appreciate some help..
