IM Client access

Does anyone know if this product can be utilized with a fat client. MSN/AIM.If it doesn't, it should.

It depends what you mean by the question:

1. By fat client you mean software the executes on the client computer, as opposed to a web application with an html interface. Answer: it ships with one, written in Java, that runs on the client computer which can be Solaris, Linux, Windows, or Mac.

2. You specifically mean the MSN client or the AIM client. Answer: these clients only work with the proprietary services hosted by Microsoft and AOL respectively, not with any other vendor's instant messaging Servers. These clients don't speak any of the IM standards such as XMPP.

3. Any 3rd party thick clients. Answer: We will support XMPP in a future version. There are a variety of clients available that speak XMPP.

Thanks for your response.

1. I am aware of the java client and it works good on all platforms.

2. As far as my question regarding MSN and AOL. I have users that prefer one over the other and unfortunately they are resistant to change seeing that have established contacts, etc. It would just make life easier if we could let users use the client of their choice.

3. Will it support XMPP in version 6.1?
